After finishing the Istanbul series of the 5 senses I really feel like there’s not much left to write about. I had been sitting on this idea for so long that it literally took 2 years to pen down (or in this case type down) those ideas. 2022 ended without traveling. I haven’t traveled much since my Istanbul trip in ‘20. I flew out to Islamabad in 2021 but ended up with COVID and spent 14 days in quarantine, I had a great time with my best friend/ cousin during the quarantine but that was it. There were no sightseeing or visiting places. I was also planning to take an international trip in 2022 but nothing worked out so far and you’ll read soon enough why that is.

With the new year just around the corner, I am going to end the year with the usual list of goals and targets that I’d like to achieve before the end of the next year. I have been able to achieve most of what I set out to do at the beginning of the year with the exception of losing weight and this year’s trip. I had been occupied with some personal issues and was unable to go anywhere. Although another thought came to me somewhere in the middle of the year and that was traveling next year to celebrate my Birthday. It is a milestone birthday after all. And I shared the idea with my girls and they all loved it. So a few months ago I took my prospective trip more seriously and started planning around it.

I am still in the middle of a family crisis but the hope of traveling soon is keeping me sane through this time and getting me by.  I also took the time to reflect on myself and decide what I really wanted to do in life. I am only a couple of decades away from my retirement age and I still haven’t worked out what I want to do with the rest of my life and what I’ll do after I retire. In all that reflection I realized that travel, reading books, and eating good food were at the top of my list and I’d love to spend the rest of my life doing one or all of these things. So while I am still planning what I really want to do, one step towards the end goal (that I am still figuring out) is to do something travel related. And keeping that in mind I intend to use this space more often, to share travel stories, travel tips, and other things that are travel related.

I’ll end this now with the hope that you had a better year, a better 2022, I hope you were traveling and leaving your mark on the world. I will meet you next year in 2023 InshaAllah (if God Willing), more frequently and often so join the extended family of wishful travelers and the nuclear family of actual travelers and become part of this journey.

However, if you are planning a trip or taking a vacation these tips might help you make your holidays better

Let’s go!

The journey is what matters, not the destination!

I'm a food fanatic, a wishful traveler, a voracious bookworm, a compulsive cat-petter, and the silliest adult in disguise. On good days, I'm outside exploring the world. On better days, I'm inside reading books and sipping on a hot beverage that looks like chai or coffee. And on the remaining days, I write about my escapades.

I'm on my way to where I need to be, loving what I love to do and being awesome all the way.
